Where could these valve cover & spark plug leaks be coming from? 2001 Honda Civic LX?

okay, so i changed my valve cover gasket twice, first time i pinched the spark plug seals in the valve cover and over tightened the valve cover causing a small leak on the side. this time i did it all correctly, but there is oil leaking outside the valve cover coming from the 4th spark plug cylinder. what could this be? i never changed the gasket/seal on the spark plug tube. i didn't know how to get it off, i only changed the spark plug seals under the valve cover. can someone please help me with this? new mechanic in the works, thanks in advanced for all the help.Where could these valve cover %26amp; spark plug leaks be coming from? 2001 Honda Civic LX?
Replace the rubber/steel washer grommets (all of them) under the cover attaching nuts.

These get hard and brittle after awhile and won't exert enough pressure to hold the cover down tightly.

Congrats on your new mechanical ventures, much of it is just plain common sense.Where could these valve cover %26amp; spark plug leaks be coming from? 2001 Honda Civic LX?
You MUST use RTV, otherwise it will most likely leak. If it leaks agian, get 4 plug seals, and the valve cover gasket, run a bead of hi temp RTV around the corners and where it is most likely to leak, torque the valve cover down to the factory specs and you wont have a leak.
