1994 dodge shadow 3.0L 5speed?

how rare is the car if it is at all? do they put this type of engine in any other vehicles that i could swap parts on? if so which cars should i look for? also where can i find what the plugs should be gaped at? i changed the old plugs and wires and the old ones i pulled out weren't gaped either and it misses evey so often. and oil is burning from somewhere i believe its the valve cover gasket. their are only two bolts the hold it on. i tried tightening them but still didn't help. Im looking for fans of this car or someone that had one with this type of engine and tranny. does it have potential or should i just leave it alone and beat it till it don't run anymore. either way i don't care i got it cheap. but if i can make it into a decent runner i would like to. cause i don't see very many people that run this car with this type of engine. that's why i like it so much cause its not a honda civic like every one and their brother owns. thanks for reading.1994 dodge shadow 3.0L 5speed?
there's still a lot of those around that are running and driving, its not real rare and not going to hold any real value as a collector car,if you want to fix it up though it would make a nice one to have running right, you can still find an engine for it ,they used those engines in many other cars, look at the condition of it and decide if its worth putting the money in to or not,if its going to cost more to fix it than it will ever be worth then you might want to rethink the idea of putting a lot of money in to it,if its 2 door car id fix it up and drive it,a good set of wheels on it and some tinted glass and you,d have a pretty good car, they run real good when the engine is right in them, good luck.1994 dodge shadow 3.0L 5speed?
It is pretty rare, I'm not sure if they put this engine in any other vehicle, a 3.0L is pretty rare among dodges. I think you should fix it up, its not worth a ton of money, but it is a good car and sounds like a fun to drive car as well1994 dodge shadow 3.0L 5speed?
the engine code is 6G72, its made by mitsubishi and found in lots of dodges, mitsubishis, cryslers even early 90s hyundai sonotas.1994 dodge shadow 3.0L 5speed?
The engine has been found in Acclaims, Spirits, LeBarons, Dynastys, Caravans, Voyagers, Daytonas, Sundances, Shadows, etc. The engine is not rare, but a five speed behind it is unusual.1994 dodge shadow 3.0L 5speed?
Yes the car has some potential. With the right bolt on parts, you should be able to get your shadow to run high 14s.

Those bolt on parts would be a dynomax catback exhaust, FM underdrive pulley, cold air intake, and 52mm throttle body. With those parts, my retired daytona iroc made 153whp and ran low 15s all day along. A dodge shadow is several hundred pounds lighter, meaning faster.

For my daytona, I later added a lightened flywheel, 58mm throttle body and a piggy back timing computer. I got the car to put down 159whp and made good gains under the peak power adjusting my timing. Megasquirt wasn't around back then. I'm sure there was more power to be tweaked since I never touched the fuel.

You can take the 3.0 pretty far. Several have adapted GM superchargers. Some have made homegrown turbo kits. There were even a few running 150shot of nitrous. There was at one time a vendor selling 10 to 1 compression forged pistons and cam regrinds. Same vendor was importing some parts from RPW of Australia. Some even updated/back dated using parts from mitsu cars powered by the 3.0.

As for leaking oil from the valve cover. First stop overtightening the bolts. All you are doing is digging the valve cover into the head. Replace the valve cover gasket to stop the leak.1994 dodge shadow 3.0L 5speed?
I had a '93 Spirit with a 3.0. I loved that car! Bought it for $300 and drove it to hell and back. That lil girl started right up every time even at 15 below! I always wanted to find a Shadow with a bad motor and swap it cause the Spirit was a 4 door. I finally found one the week after I sent mine to the junkyard cause the transmission went out!
