Having problem with oil escaping over engine, been told need to change the rocker cover valve?? But one garage told me it was head gasket even though no other signs that it is this and i also know the common problems this causes and am not experiencing this, just loosing oil, i have also had two others look at it who confirmed rocker cover needs replacing. What should i expect to pay for this repair of the rocker cover and all advise would be most grateful.

If the head gasket has blown between an oil way %26amp; the outer edge than it will be a head gasket replacement. Just because the car is running ok %26amp; not losing water or getting mayonnaise under the filler cap doesn't mean the head gasket hasn't blown.
If oil is only escaping from around the rocker cover than it is only a rocker cover gasket that will need replacing. A rocker cover gasket can be damaged it the engine has a blocked breather filter or when the rocker cover is removed to adjust the valve clearances.
As garages vary the prices they charge depending upon location it might just be worth ringing a local independent garage (or two) %26amp; asking for a quotation on changing the gasket %26amp; when they have an appointment available.
