Need help replaceing intake gaskets on pontiac montana?

how do you get the coil bracket off the motor to allow acces to rear valve cover? and is it necessary to remove the pushrods to change gaskets? if so how do you readjust valves (roller cam) and last but not least is the problem with these 3.4 engines loosing intake gaskets do to the dexcool antifreeze?????????Need help replaceing intake gaskets on pontiac montana?
Undo the bolts on the coil bracket that u cant see. Back of the engine, under the coil. Yup, take them pushrods off. Dont need adjusting, but get the torque spec for em. Aftermarket gaskets wont leak again, but buy good ones like Fel pro gasketsNeed help replaceing intake gaskets on pontiac montana?
Could not tell you how to remove the coil bracket (without being a smart---).

The pushrods will have to be removed, they may be different length between intake and exhaust, and there is not adjustment, you just torque the rocker arm down to specs.

The intakes leaking is not due to dexcool but rather gasket design. Felpro makes a problem solver gasket kit for many of these applications which should include every gasket you need (valve cover gaskets, ect). The aftermarket does make the original style gaskets so watch what you buy, the original design will give you the same problem. I buy my felpro kits at either NAPA or Oriely's.Need help replaceing intake gaskets on pontiac montana?
You didn't mention what year your Montana was, but this repair guide covers the 1999 model as well as earlier Transports, and the engine should be pretty much the same still for a while after that.

As far as the push rods, if you do have to take them out their position should be kept track of so that they can be returned to the same spot, not just Intakes vs Exhausts.

Can't really find anything on the coil pack, except for an alternate location up by the front end of the motor, but I have seen what you're talking about, and the bracket is usually mounted to the cylinder head on the back side.

One other tip is that you could try to rotate the engine. The Lumina cars had this feature so you could change the spark plugs on the back side, and this vehicle is virtually identical in the front end. You can find that described here;

As far as %26quot;tool J 41131%26quot; it's just a nylon strap with hooks on the end like you can find at any hardware store.

P.S. Oh yeah, it's the gaskets not the Dex-Cool that's the problem. Go with the highest quality FelPro gasket for replacement.
